This is a tattoo on Elle Cooney from Virginia, Co Cavan. She got it done to commemorate the date of her adoption. She wanted it to be a bright and colourful piece, as she felt it should be full of fun and vitality to portray her life. The two birds symbolise her two adoptive parents and the tree and eggs are to show the growth from egg to bird. As it's quite a large piece in a rather revealing area, does Elle think that she will regret getting it in years to come? "Not at all" she told me, "I think I will never tire of it, it stands for a very important part of my life and it's something I am proud to explain to people when they ask if it stands for anything. I will probably add more to the arm in the next few years as well."
